13-year-old Melinda Creech disappeared in late 1979 shortly after being placed at the Bronnenberg Children’s Home in Anderson, Indiana.

Her mother claimed Mindy had run away and IN 1994 told her other children that Mindy's body was identified in New Jersey.

In 2004, following their mother’s death, Mindy's siblings discovered official records proving the New Jersey body was not a match. An official missing persons report was finally filed, but Mindy’s Social Security number has shown zero activity since 1979.
