BRITTANY PHILLIPS

Case Overview

Brittany Phillips was an 18-year-old college student in Tulsa, Oklahoma, whose life was taken in a brutal and still-unsolved crime. She is believed to have been sexually assaulted and murdered sometime between the night of September 27 and the early morning hours of September 28, 2004, inside her own apartment.

On September 27, Brittany had what appeared to be a normal day—attending classes, spending time with a friend, and speaking with her mother later that evening. After that call, no one heard from her again. When she failed to show up for classes and stopped answering calls, concern quickly grew. On September 30, police were asked to conduct a welfare check. Inside her apartment, they discovered Brittany deceased.

Investigators determined that Brittany had been sexually assaulted and strangled. Despite the presence of physical evidence—including DNA—no suspect has ever been identified, and no arrests have been made in the more than two decades since her death. The case remains open, with investigators continuing to pursue leads and advancements in forensic technology that could one day bring answers.

Her mother, Maggie Zingman, has never stopped fighting for justice. In the years since Brittany’s death, she has become a powerful and relentless advocate, determined to keep her daughter’s name and story alive. Through her initiative, “Caravan To Catch a Killer,” Maggie travels across the country in a vehicle wrapped in Brittany’s case details—raising awareness, generating tips, and connecting with other families facing similar tragedies.

Her efforts have led to renewed attention, new leads, and continued hope that someone, somewhere, knows something that could finally solve this case.
